Playing on an innovative board containing multiple stacked layers of superimposed tiles, players take on the role of guilds of explorers at an archaeological site.

ICE AS FAR AS THE EYE CAN SEE…

 

In this frozen world, swept by blizzards, a lone city clings to life.

Every year during the summer season, the city’s guilds organise expeditions.

Their destination: the valley of the ancient ones, where vestiges of an antediluvian civilization might be buried. Looking for answers, prestige or riches, every guild has its own motivations.

WHY IS IT UNIQUE?

 

You will be immersed in a rich universe with beautiful artwork made by french illustrator Léonard Dupond.

You will discover a game with unique componenets, consisting of a one-of-a-kind board with multiple levels of tiles!

The purpose is to dig deep directly into the board, like real archaeologists.

WHO WILL YOU BE?

NAVIGATORS

You may bring up to 3 Archaeologists with you on ANY type of special move action, unlike other Leaders.

INCANDESCENTS

Once a day, you may place your Activation token on an Artifact slot on your Guild Board.

You gain the effect of that Artifact Type.

CRYOARCHITECTS

You may excavate tiles with Camps as if there was an extra Archaeologist with you.

ALCHEMISTS

Once per day, you may retrieve up to 3 tiles from the discard bag and keep one.

ICEWALKERS

After you excavate, you may use a grappling token to place your Leader without restriction on any of the tiles, after you place all other Explorers with the Placement Rule.

ENLIGHTENED

You can make predictions about the tiles you excavate.

Guess the Type of the Snow tiles: Animal, Expedition or Ancient. If correct, gain 1 EP.

Guess the shape of Artifact tiles. If correct, gain 2 RP.

NOURISHERS

Once per Day you can have up to 2 Archaeologists from the reserve on your guild board. As a free action once per turn, you can bring them to Snow tiles you’re on.

GAMEPLAY

BUILD A CAMP

Place a Camp and your Expedition Leader on the upper level.

You cannot put a Camp on a tile that already has one. Archaeologists and Camps are shared by all players.

CALL

Put an Archaeologist from the reserve on a tile where there is a Camp.

Or move your Expedition Leader from any tile, or the reserve, to a tile with a Camp.

EXPLORE

Move your Expedition Leader 1 space to an adjacent tile. When an Expedition Leader explores, they may freely bring with them up to 3 Archaeologists from their starting tile.

EXCAVATE

Remove a tile with no more than one other tile on it, and only if your Expedition Leader is present on it. Each Leader or Archaeologist on the tile lowers the action cost by 1.

SNOW TILES

The first layer! Once removed, Snow tiles are placed face down in the player’s hand. At any time during their turn as a free action, a player can discard a tile in their hand and trigger its effect.

THE ARTIFACTS

Once removed, artifacts are placed on a player’s guild board. During the game players can unlock their artifact’s abilities  and each one has its own unique power!

REQUEST & DECREE CARDS

During the game and at the very end, Artifacts that are gained can be used to score Decrees, or validate Request Cards, which are the main source of Renown points. Unfulfilled Requests make you lose Renown.

THE EDIFICES

Soft Legacy: In the Edifices & Guilds expansion, players have a new endgame trigger: Revealing an Edifice! These act as a game variant that you will be able to play for your next chapters of I C E.
